A new business which proposes to occupy an existing business or tenant space.
The first step for any new business desiring to occupy an existing building in Meridian is to apply for a Fast Track Certificate of Occupancy through the City's Citizen Portal, and submit the application to the Community Development Department for review before signing a lease. If you've already signed a lease, a Certificate of Occupancy is still required, along with any other applications that may be required.
The Fast Track Certificate of Occupancy is a coordination tool used to determine the following;
- If the proposed use is compliant with the City’s zoning ordinance;
- Does the proposed use meet the parking requirements of the zoning code; and,
- Whether a commercial building permit and State agency approvals are needed for the issuance of a new Certificate of Occupancy.
