Downtown Meridian

Many areas within downtown Meridian lack basic infrastructure such as curb, gutter, and sidewalks (some areas with sidewalks are unsafe, are not ADA accessible, and are isolated with limited or no connectivity). Many streets do not support the Destination Downtown Vision Plan and fail to promote Livability, Mobility, Prosperity, and Sustainability goals within the plan. Additionally, there are parking, pathway and bikelane connectivity, and branding, marketing, and aesthetic improvements to plan for and support.

The goal of the Downtown Meridian Street Cross-section Master Plan is to clearly define redevelopment expectations that impact or are impacted by the street environment. It is critical for the framework provided by this plan to enhance synergies of efforts by local agencies and private development, and to promote appeal, reinvestment, and economic development within the planning area and the greater downtown. It is expected that long-range redevelopment within the City Core will occur slowly as a result of partnerships and collaboration.

Street Cross-section Master Plan

The City of Meridian Community Development Department with support from the Meridian Development Corporation (MDC) and Ada County Highway District (ACHD) completed a long-range plan to identify build-out conditions for streets within downtown Meridian. The planning area includes land between Meridian Road and East 3rd Street to the east and west, and between Carlton Avenue and Bower Road to the north and south. The Downtown Meridian Street Cross-section Master Plan (Downtown Meridian Street Plan) was adopted on September 9, 2014 by resolution 14-1012.
